Your Macbook remains black screen at startup after pressing the power button to open? Try our solutions to fix before bringing it to Apple repair service.
I experienced this circumstance last year in the second semester at my University in Australia. My Macbook pro was out of guarantee, so it would turn to hell if I had brought it to Mac1, one of official Apple’s partner service, because they take $99 just for checking. I finally found the solution after hours chatting with a support on Apple website. These are some solutions you should attempt to fix your self. Trust me that if you bring it to nearest Apple Store, they do the same things in further words in two contexts:
1, Macbook remains Black screen quietly when Booting – hear no sounds
You hear nothing? Try any ways if you can hear the sound of a running machine (HDD sounds, Fan sounds,…) to make sure your Macbook is supplied by Power and seems to run normally. No power supply due to Broken – battery, power adapter or power chipset, your Macbook can not be booted and you see and hear nothing. Girls do not tend to know that.
2, Macbook remains Black screen when Booting and still hear sounds
Firstly, you are the unlucky one if you face not only Black screen, but also the “Bip” sound (I am not talking about the startup sound – boot chime. Things like you hear 3 or 5 times a period). In this case, something probably happened to the Logic Board, and you need to ask a Macbook repair service for help. However, that is just an assumption. Technology is full of possibility. You should try one of these below:
2 primary solutions you should try fist:
- Press the power button then hold down Command+Option+P+R keys together until you hear the computer chime twice whether you hear the boot chime or hear nothing.
- Take these actions step by step:
- Pressing the Power / OFF button once – this will bring up the dialog box which you can’t see.
- You then press the “S” button – this is the shortcut to sleep the Mac.
- You now need to hold down the Power button until a hard shut down is forced.
- Then after waiting for about 20-30 seconds, press Power button again to turn it back on. If the problem still remains the same, follow the further solutions below:
Black screen comes with Startup sound
You need to differentiate between Startup sound and other sounds.
Startup sound is very familiar because just one sound you hear all the time once the white screen with Apple logo comes up when booting your Macbook. In this case, you need to reset the System Management Controller:
Solution 1 – for modern MacBook Pro or MacBook Air with a built-in battery:
a, Shut down the Mac and connect it to your MagSafe adapter and a wall outlet as usual.
b, Hold down the Shift+Control+Option+Power button at the same time for a few seconds.
c, Release all keys at the same time, then boot the Mac as usual.
Solution 2 – For old Macbook pro, Macbook air can separate the battery:
a, Shut down the computer.
b, Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it’s connected.
c, Remove the battery.
d, Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
e, Release the power button.
f, Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
g, Press the power button to turn on the computer.
If your Macbook suddenly shows Black screen display booting after press the power button, you now should know what to do yet?
Hopefully my tips would help.
